A world of vacuum fittings and more

Your vacuum cleaner can do a lot if you have the right vacuum accessories. There are numerous attachments which allow you to reach out-of-the-way corners, such dirt and dust off different types of fabric, and increase the suction power of your vacuum cleaner. In addition to vacuum fittings, you can also get replacement components if you have an older cleaner that's seen better days but don't want to spend the money on a new one.

Vacuum Fittings for Every Job

Here is a list of common vacuum fittings which can enhance your cleaner's capabilities:

  • Extension wands. Ideal for cleaning under stoves and fridges, extension wands can also connect with other fittings to help you reach distant corners.
  • Vacuum brushes. These bristled attachments are used to dislodge built-up debris and dirt from between the fibers of fabrics and upholstery.
  • Upholstery brushes. This is a specialized variation on the vacuum brush, which features stiffer and longer bristles, and is generally circular in design to allow you to apply cleansers and shampoos to carpets and furnishings.
  • Stair cleaners. These fittings usually feature pivoting ends, which can clean both the risers and the treads of a carpeted staircase.
  • Blind and fan attachments. You can also get specially designed attachments that are intended for the cleaning of blinds and ceiling fan blades.
  • Hard floor tools. These unique flat fittings let you quickly and easily suck up dirt and debris from hardwood, tile, linoleum and concrete floors.
  • Crevice tools. A crevice tool tapers to a narrow end, and they're perfect for reaching tough spaces between seat cushions and small, tight corners.

Replacement Vacuum Components

If you have an otherwise-healthy vacuum that just requires a quick fix-up, you can also get these replacement components:

  • Vacuum bags. You can dramatically increase the amount of storage space available for debris by adding a bag attachment to your vacuum cleaner.
  • Vacuum belts. It is recommended that you replace your vacuum belts every three to six months to ensure your cleaner functions at its best.
  • Vacuum filters. Over time, vacuum filters need replacement. If your filter becomes saturated, you won't be able to suck up much dirt, dust or debris with the vacuum, simply because the newly introduced material won't be able to penetrate the filter and will end up collecting and clogging up the system.
  • Vacuum hoses. The hoses which transport debris that's been sucked up to the vacuum's storage tank are among the most commonly replaced components. You can quickly and easily swap out an old or broken hose for a new one if you notice yours is beginning to crack or warp.

"If the semi-diameter of a sphere of the same diesnty as the Sun were to exceed that of the Sun in the proportion of 500 to 1, a body falling from an infinite height towards it would have acquired at its surface greater velocity than that of light, and consequently supposing light to be attracted by the same force in proportion to its vis inertiae, with other bodies, all light emitted from such a body would be made to return towards it by its own proper gravity" John Michell[3]
